12:30 - 4:30 Creating more welcoming and inclusive care for LGBTQ2S+ clients
During this one-hour session, participants will hear about Angie’s workplace injury story. Tammy and Angie will provide practical and useful information for all OHNs working with LGBTQ2S+ people of all ages and workplace settings.
About the Presenters:
Tammy Troute-Wood (She/Her/Hers) RN, BScN, MN
Tammy works as a registered nurse and Sexual & Reproductive Health Specialist, with Alberta Health Services (AHS), in Calgary zone. While still maintaining a front-line clinical practice at youth-friendly AHS sexual and reproductive health clinics, most of her time is spent in health promotion and education professional capacities. In her spare time, she volunteers as a board member for the Alberta Society for Sexual Health (ASPSH) and works as an instructor for the University of Alberta and University of Lethbridge.
Angela Reid (She/Her/Hers) is a former head of the Trans Equality Society of Alberta and is currently a senior electronics technician for a major oilfield services provider. She seriously injured her right hand on the job in 2018 but was able to return to her original job. Angela has presented on trans-inclusive policies and trans experiences to many different government and private organizations over the past decade.
