Session: What You Didn’t Know to Know about Disability Case Management

Tracy Aiello will be presenting information on Disability Case Management from the perspective of a new claim and how it is handled by an insurer. You will learn how an OHN can impact a claim in a positive way and the little known opportunities available to employees from Insurers to help expedite rehabilitation. You will also learn how OHNs can advocate for their employees with the insurer and physician and how OHN’s can make a positive impact on a Short or Long Term Disability claim. Tools will be provided and a case study will be reviewed during the presentation.
Tracy has practiced as an Occupational Health Nurse for 24 years. She attained her Occupational Health Nursing Certificate in 2002 and her CNA Occupational Health Nursing Certification in 2002. Tracy has practiced in the automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, teaching and educating in First Aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen administration and was a member of the Ontario Occupational Health Nursing Association, on the Board of the Niagara Occupational Health Nurses Association and Chair of the Niagara Regional Wellness Committee before she moved to Alberta in 2004. Since moving to Alberta Tracy has worked at NAIT, U of C, as a clinic nurse and become a private consultant in disability, vocational and rehabilitation. She has served AOHNA on the Conference Committee in 2016, 2017 and 2019, as President Elect and this year will complete her term as President of AOHNA.
