Day 2 - Carol Zukiwski

Session:  Responding to the Zeitgeist of the #MeToo Movement - Amendments to the Health Professions Act

Presented by Carol Zukiwski, Barrister and Solicitor

The recent amendments to the Health Professions Act (HPA) provided health Colleges with tools to respond to allegations which involve conduct of a sexual nature.  Learn about the new definitions of ‘patient’, ‘sexual abuse’, ‘sexual misconduct’ and ‘sexual nature’.  During this session we will review the changes to the HPA, and the “Protection of Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Standards’ issued by CARNA in March 2019.  The objective of the presentation is to inform nurses about these important changes.
