Session: Opioid Crisis: What Can and Should Be Done

The subject of the presentation addresses the ongoing crisis with regard to Opioid use and abuse in Canada. The presentation will include defining what the problem is and what some of the possible solutions and interventions that need to be implemented.
Dr. Bruce Monkhouse has a PHD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Alberta as well as a Master's Degree in Political science. He is currently the Chief of Mental Health Services at William Head Institution and have worked as a Forensic Psychologist with the Correctional Service of Canada for 26 years.
Dr. Monkhouse also works as a Consulting Forensic Psychologist with the Forensic Psychiatric Services Commission and deliver a community based sexual offender Program. He is a Psychological consultant to the Capital Region Emergency Response Team as well as with Calian providing assessment services with regard to Department of National Defense. Dr. Monkhouse is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta and the University of Victoria.
