Session: OHN Forum Demonstration

The Occupational Health Nursing Forum is a new online tool designed to assist with connecting Occupational Health Nursing professionals and the alike.  The forum is a available to all members, as well as, the general public. Through this forum, everyone is welcome to share Occupational Health Nursing practice related questions and resources, that they believe would benefit others.

During this presentation, Cindy and Brendan will provide not only an overview of the forum, but also a live demonstration of how to use and get the most out of this newly designed tool. Through implementing this new forum, through integrating the way the world has transformed the use of technology, we hope that for individuals who practice in a remote location, sole practice and so forth, are able to reach out and connect to others for ideas and/or advise in a fast-paced and busy life. At the endo f the presentation, Cindy and Brendan will be willing to answer questions that may arise.

Brendan Webster earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Calgary and an Occupation Health Nursing Certificate from BCIT. He’s a Certified Occupational Health Nurse through the Canadian Nurses Association and a Canadian Registered Safety Profession. He has over eight year’s occupational health nursing experience in construction and education industries, developing and implementing occupational health and safety programs.  In his current roles as Networking Coordinator on the AOHNA Executive and Chair of the Mentorship Task Group, Brendan has had the pleasure of working with an extremely dedicated group of professionals to build networking and mentorship capacity within the association.

Cindy McKay began her education at the University of Saskatchewan, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree. She then earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Calgary and obtained an Occupational Health Nursing Certificate from MacEwan University. While working as an Occupational Health Nurse, she completed a Legal Nurse Consulting course, and also earned her Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Fredericton. Cindy has served on the Executive Board of the AOHNA and currently sits on its Mentorship Committee. She has had the opportunity to work in several occupational health sectors, in which she was able to learn extensively from dedicated nurses and professionals alike. She strives to continuously expand her knowledge and networks in occupational health nursing and to pass her knowledge on to others. Additionally, she enjoys travelling, sports, and spending time with family and friends.
